Priadel (lithium carbonate) will remain on the market after new price is agreed by the government

After negotiating new prices with the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), Essential Pharma has agreed to keep supplying the NHS with Priadel, which it previously announced it would be withdrawing from the UK market in April 2021.

SPS commentary:

The new deal will see Priadel supplied at £7.50 per pack of 200mg tablets and £8.50 per pack of 400mg tablets (previously £4.02). The investigation launched by the Competition and Markets Authority into whether the company had “abused its dominant position” in order to get patients to switch to alternative, more expensive treatments such as Camcolit (owned by the same company) is ongoing, and no decision has yet been made on whether competition law was broken.
