Only 1 RCT was identified (n=103) which provided insufficient evidence to determine whether treatment with PPIs is a potential option for COPD (12 of 50 people on lansoprazole had ≥1 exacerbation over a year vs. 26 out of 50 on usual care; risk ratio 0.46, 95% CI 0.26 to 0.81).
