Rates of treatment-resistant schizophrenia from first-episode cohorts: systematic review and meta-analysis
Review of 12 studies (n=11,958) found ~25% of people will develop treatment-resistant schizophrenia in early stages of treatment. Rates may be as high as a third in relapsed patients, despite treatment, highlighting need for improved access to clozapine and psychosocial supports.
