Regulator ‘following up’ Boots’ provision of rapid point of care COVID-19 antigen test

General Pharmaceutical Council is looking into Boots’ roll-out of a rapid antigen test for COVID-19 (processes swab samples to give results in 12 minutes), with Public Health England guidance advising that such tests should not be provided by community pharmacies.

SPS commentary:

The nasal swab test, which will cost £120, and is due to be launched at 50 Boots stores in November, will be available to people who are not showing symptoms.
