Risk of Anemia With Metformin Use in Type 2 Diabetes: A MASTERMIND Study

Metformin was associated with early risk of anaemia, a finding consistent across ADOPT (OR 1.93 vs sulphonylureas) and UKPDS (OR 3.40 vs diet) RCTs and replicated in GoDARTS real-world study (each 1 g/day of metformin associated with a 2% higher annual risk of anaemia).
