Risk of mortality in patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 variant of concern 202012/1: matched cohort study

UK study (54,906 pairs who tested positive for CoV-2) found an increased risk of mortality for the VOC-202012/1 variant of concern vs previously circulating variants (HR 1.64, 95%CI 0.32-2.04). It represents an increase in deaths from 2.5 to 4.1 per 1000 detected cases.
