Risk of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in patients with bipolar disorder or schizophrenia

Study (35,017 out-of-hospital cardiac arrest [OHCA] cases and 175,085 age/sex-matched controls) found higher rates of OHCA in pts with bipolar disorder (HR 2.74; 95% CI 2.41 to 3.13) or schizophrenia (4.49; 4.00 to 5.10). Antipsychotics increased risk vs no use in both disorders.
