Scripps Research Institute reports mutated COVID-19 viral strain (G614) in U.S. and Europe that is 10 times more contagious than original strain (D614)

Researchers found that the S “spike” protein on mutated version, G614, is less likely to break off surface of virus allowing it to more easily enter cells. The mutation does not appear to make virus any more deadly but it does appear to make it significantly more contagious.
