Strategies for optimising antenatal corticosteroid administration for women with anticipated preterm birth

This review (3 RCTs) found in low-resource settings, active promotion of use of antenatal corticosteroids in women at risk of preterm birth may increase use in the target population, but carry a substantial risk of unnecessary exposure in women for whom it is not indicated.

SPS commentary:

The authors note that the protocol for this review planned to report all settings and subgroup by low-middle versus high-income countries. These planned analyses were not possible in this version of the review, although adding further studies in future updates may allow them to conduct planned subgroup analyses.
