Survey finds over half of GPs and nurses who treat type II diabetics do not carry out recommended annual Urine Albumin-to-Creatinine Ratio (UACR) test

NICE recommends the test, which is used to detect kidney damage that can lead to fatal complications, and should be conducted every year. GPs say that the most common reason for not completing it is that many patients are unwilling to provide a simple urine sample.
