The association of long-term outcome and biological sex in patients with acute heart failure from different geographic regions

Review of GREAT registry (n=22 523) and OPTIMIZE-HF study (n=26 376) found that women had a lower mortality the year after acute heart failure vs men (HR 0.86, p < 0.001), though they were less often prescribed ACEi and beta-blockers at discharge (50% vs. 57%, P = 0.001).
