The Effects of Four Doses of Vitamin D Supplements on Falls in Older Adults: A Response-Adaptive, Randomized Clinical Trial

RCT (n=668) found vitamin D3 supplementation at doses of 1000 units/day or higher did not prevent falls compared with 200 units (HR 0.94, 95%CI 0.76-1.15). Rate of serious falls, and fall with hospitalisation were higher with 1000 units (HR 1.87 and 2.48, p<0.05 for both).
