The Impact of Bariatric Surgery on Incident Microvascular Complications in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes: A Matched Controlled Population-Based Retrospective Cohort Study

Study (n=3,345) found, over a median follow-up of 3.9 years, that bariatric surgery was associated with reduction in incident combined microvascular complications (HR 0.53, 95% CI 0.43–0.66). The greatest reduction was with Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
