Time trends and prescribing patterns of opioid drugs in UK primary care patients with non-cancer pain: A retrospective cohort study
Study (n=1,968,742) found, of patients starting opioids on very high morphine milligram equivalents/day (≥200), a high proportion (18.7%) remained in the same category at 2 years; and age ≥75 yrs had highest risk for long term use (odds ratio 4.59, 95% CI 4.5–4.7, p<0.001).
