Treatment of Acute Pain in Adults With Sickle Cell Disease in an Infusion Center Versus the Emergency Department: A Multicenter Prospective Cohort Study
US study (n=483) found patients seen in infusions centres for veno-occlusive crises waited less time for first dose of analgesia (62 vs 132 minutes, p<0.05) and had a greater chance of pain re-assessment at 30min (RR 3.8, 95%CI 2.63-5.64) vs those seen in emergency departments.
