Trends in acid suppressant drug prescriptions in primary care in the UK: a population-based cross-sectional study

Study (n=3,027,383) shows that while proton pump inhibitor prevalence has increased over time, prescribing intensity has plateaued likely due to adverse effects; as these are not associated with histamine-2 receptor antagonists, their prescribing intensity has begun to increase.
