Varenicline versus nicotine replacement therapy for long-term smoking cessation: an observational study using the Clinical Practice Research Datalink

This observational analysis reports that 2-year quit rates were 28.8% in patients prescribed varenicline and 24.3% in those prescribed nicotine replacement therapy (odds ratio 1.30; 95% CI 1.27-1.33), with little evidence of any differences in mortality or morbidity.
